Hammertoe
Hammertoe
Hammertoe, a foot condition characterized by abnormal bending of one or more toes, often results from injury or prolonged wear of ill-fitting shoes. While anyone can develop hammertoe, it’s more prevalent in women with longer second toes. Over time, this condition can lead to discomfort, pain, corns, calluses, and permanent stiffening of the tendon in the affected toe.
Did You Know?
Properly fitting footwear is key to preventing hammertoe. Choose shoes with ample toe room, allowing at least a half-inch of space between the shoe and the longest toe. As the risk increases with age, selecting well-fitted footwear becomes even more crucial over time.
